Create an electronic storybook. Make use of the little gaps in life - on the sofa after dinner, in the back seat of the car, or on a train - to do something creative together.

To create your story:

* Write some text.

* Illustrate by drawing on the screen, taking a photograph of something you see, or drawing on paper and then photographing the paper, or attaching photos from your album.

* Sounds can be recorded for telling your story or as sound effects.

* Layout the elements of your story (text boxes, images, and sound clips) freely by dragging them or pinching to resize.

* Add, reorder, or delete pages from your book.

Your story is always saved in your iPhone. Carry it with you and work on it any time. Upload your story to the StoryKit web server and email a link to the story from within the app. No account is necessary. Stories are private.

The application includes four public domain childrens books that you can rewrite and rearrange into your own new story. These are scans of the original bound books that have been specially processed for use on the iPhone. Take "The Three Bears" and make them four. Rewrite "The Three Little Pigs" with the wolf as the victim. Or, start with a blank book and write whatever story is on your minds.

In order to improve StoryKit, the application sends us anonymous usage data. The usage data contains no personal information or content from your stories. However, if you upload stories to our website, we may look at those to see how StoryKit is being used and understand what kinds of features would be useful to add in the future. We will not share your stories with anyone outside our research group without your express permission.

StoryKit was designed by researchers at the University of Marylands Human-Computer Interaction Lab as a basis for studying how mobile devices can be a conduit for children to work with their family members doing creative and educational activities. The idea is that by creating stories on iPhone - as opposed to paper and pens - you can find time to work on these activities anytime and anywhere. When youre done, you can carry it with you in your pocket, show it to friends and family you meet in your daily life, or send it electronically to people who live further away.

Pros and cons of StoryKit app for iPhone and iPad

StoryKit app good for

I love the app. But now when I click on the app main page comes up then goes back to the page with all my apps. I need it fixed soon because Im going on a trip soon and dont have wifi all the time. Thanks.
Its amazing but it could be better but still I give this a 5 star rateing
StoryKit is a great app with lots of ways to create your own story. However, I recently discovered that there is a crash on the app that activates whenever I try to edit my books. I hope it is updated.
So the app works now but last time I used it I was on I pod but now i have an I phone 6s and the screen is too small fix this plz

Some bad moments

The app was amazing until itd quit when I clicked a page with a number past 20. But I put up with it and used the next page button until I got to my spot. But now it wont let me even open the book!!!!! This is awful because Im training to be an author and this is the only place I have this novel written. Fix this bug soon or Ill keep rating 1 star till your wonderful rating is terrible. MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! But seriously, fix this. My entire future is in jeopardy.
This is my favourite app because writing stories is one of my favourite things to do
I adore this. I recommend this app. It is great for children - really, it brings out creativity in the user. And free? It is certainly worth a dollar. But I have no problem with the free version ;) it encourages kids to really express theirselves through a drawing, a photograph, a voice recording, or text. It makes you feel really professional.
I LOVE this app!!!  It gives me access to story-writing whenever I want to. I cant believe it was free and I definitely would have paid .99. My only problem with this app is the occasional crashing. However, I do wish you could turn the screen to landscape, it would be easier to type. Overall this is a pretty good app!
I cant believe this app is free. I teach K and my kids love this app. It lends itself well for differentiating within my classroom. Students are able to take pictures, type text, record their voices, and draw pictures/write words. Weve created many books using this app. Love it and highly recommend it.
My 4 year old loves creating her own storybook! She takes the pictures by herself and tells me what to type verbatim. The only "issue" we are having is that it doesnt Share the book link on Facebook when I use the app to do it. I circumvent it by emailing it to myself and posting it that way. Great app with a slight glitch. :)
